Shift culture.

Our organization has a 10-year history of inclusion and support for open source from any source. We are all about equality and diversity.

Build community.

Yes, we have a badass idea contest, full of winners who have gone on to glory—but we are much more than that. We are a society of support for the entire group of participants, year-round.

Recruit winners.

Our group has the industry’s highest percentage of female participants at 40%, with the goal of even representation across all backgrounds. We give scholarships to women, also students and veterans.

Mint teams.

The founding engineers of Square met at Developer Camp. The Temple Run founders helped us create our community in Amsterdam. Getaround, the national car-sharing service founded, found their CTO at Developer Camp. Your contribution will help all of us find the next big thing.

Find founders.

By participating in our event, you will be at the front line of version one for real products and solutions. The creators go on to make huge things happen—like OAuth 1.0 in 2007, Obama ’08 for iPhone, Starbucks for iPhone, and Path.

We have four Sponsorship levels available plus a Community Immersion Package.

Sponsor Tips

Having been an organizer, a participant, and also a sponsor I can tell you that the best sponsors are the ones who are there to educate, help, or actively support the participants. Bring knowledge, expertise, food, resources, experience, connections, or all of the above. Bring people from your team who can code. Bring designers or tradespeople worth their salt.

If you’ve got a booth, man it the entire time. You never know when someone might want a question answered, or when they might have some down time to be receptive to your message. If you’re bringing swag to give away, make it useful stuff that people need to have. Bring stickers, or cases, or branded items that people will actually use.

Prepare a compelling, energetic pitch and bring someone charismatic to deliver it. Tell the audience what problem you’re solving, and motivate the audience to use your solution when solving it. Motivation can take the form of sponsoring a category, but it can also feel like recognition or ongoing support of any kind. Offer marketing assistance, connections to your community, or a showcase of their work.

Make an effort to learn about the culture of the community before attending. In our case, we appreciate sponsors who understand who has come before them, and realize that the community needs support year-round and not just over the weekend. The best sponsors are those who come back every year, pay up front with cash, and help the organizers by being respectful of their time and attention.

Here is a brief selection of some previous sponsors:

Google, Square, GM, Disney, Microsoft, Getaround, Harman-Kardon, Yahoo, Adobe, PayPal, eBay, Panic, Dropbox, Gree, Fitbit, Constant Contact, Kaiser Permanente, Box, Make, Belkin, Griffin, and Github.
